Mental Exercise
The Brain
In our nervous system the nervous paths take care of the connection between the central nervous system and the rest of the body. Nervous paths consist of many nervous cells, neurons, which are connected to each other by synapses.
We are born with more neurons than we need and we loose many of them before the age of two through a natural process. It was believed that the number of neurons determined the intelligence, but 1911 Raymond y Cajal explored that it is the number of synapses that is the crucial factor.
When Marian C. Diamond, Ph.D. studied the brains of Albert Einstein (which had been taken charge of by Dr Thomas Harvey), she came to the conclusion that you can increase the amount of neurons by stimulating the brain.
Consequently, you can get smarter by mental training!
And without mental training you will get more stupid and slower and get worse memory. E. g. by watching bad shows and commercials on TV.
Mental Exercise
By mental exercise new synapses are formed between the neurons, the brain cells, in the brain. We get smarter, more creative and efficient and get better memory.
Here are some examples of what you can do.
Write a little bit every day
It could be a diary, poetry, songs, or just your thoughts at the moment.
Switch Hands
Simply use the hand your normally don’t use when you write, brush your teeth, eat, etc.
Break Routines
If you do the same thing every day your brain doesn’t have to work. It’s good to change the order of the things you do sometimes, or take a new way to work and eat something different for breakfast.

This is a method that Einstein used, but is developed by Win Wegner, the author of “The Einstein Factor”.
You describe what comes up in your thought. It’s important to speak out loud to either a person or to a tape recorder. Describe with as many details as possible and with help from all five senses. How does it look? How does it taste? How does it feel? How does it smell? How does it sound?
