Enzymes
Enzymes exist in all animals and plants and are complex proteins that react like catalysts, which means they speed up bio chemical reactions. These reactions would not happen at all, or so slowly we would not notice, if was it not for the enzymes.
Besides the amino acid structure, enzymes also contain vitamins and minerals. Each enzyme has its specific task and thousands of enzymes work in harmony with one another to make all physiologic activities in the body possible, from digestion to wound healing.
The liver produces over thousand different enzymes, but lack of just on could break the chain of biochemical reactions and cause imbalances, which show as allergies, nutrition deficiencies and deficiency diseases. The secretion of enzymes decrease with age and it is good for older to take enzyme supplement.
Pepsin: breaks up proteins of ingested food
Rennin: digestive enzyme – milk protein casein.
Lipase: fats
Hydrochloric acid: in the stomach, works on fibrous meat, vegetables, poultry. Digests protein, calcium and iron.
