To feel good and to be healthy and happy, we need vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, fats, fiber and water. These nutritional components work together and because of that we need all of them to function optimally.

We can eat nutritious food and avoid what the body does not need or is harmed from.

Nutrition is destroyed when the food is processed and most of what we can find in the food store contains chemicals, sugars and trans fatty acids.

The best we can find today is organic food. It is a little bit more expensive, but contains a lot more nutrition. Have in mind though, that organic food could still contain sugars and trans fatty acids.

Malnutrition is probably the most common reason to disease nowadays. To be malnourished does not always mean being skinny, we might just as well be normal- or overweight. It is the quality and variation of the food that matters, not the quantity. Read more under vitamins and minerals to see what deficiency can lead to.

Many people, including myself, are taught that a good diet consists of plenty of grains, a little bit of meat and vegetables and very little fat. We replaced butter with margarine and sugar with aspartame, which turned out to be completely insane.

For breakfast most people eat cereals with milk, toasts, or pancakes. Lunch and dinner usually consists of pasta, potatoes, meat, fast food, or sandwiches. Perhaps a bagel or danish, coffee, black tea and soda throughout the day. This kind of eating is too one-sided and has not enough nutrition. We will still feel hungry and crave more food. This will also disturb the pH balance of the body, it will become too acidic. In an acidic body disease will grow.
To keep a healthy pH-balance let 80% of the food be alkaline.
