I have had this pain in my lower back for a pretty long time now. I usually think that “it’ll be fine”, that “I just need to exercise and stretch more”. This time it went too far. I could hardly walk, stand or sit any longer.
I scheduled an appointment with Christian at Mälarhöjdens Naprapatklinik (Stockholm, Sweden). He immediately saw that I was crooked and that my right leg was a little bit shorter. He examined my pelvis and ascertained that it was twisted counter clockwise. It is called a pelvic twist and common in women
With a few firm grips and his own body weight, Christian put my pelvis back in the right position. The greatest differences between a naprapath and a chiropractor is that the naprapath besides cracking bone also work with the muscles. He kneaded hard and loosened nodes and other things.
Additionaly I had two lockings in the upper back that he easily cracked away. I screamed out loudly, since I thought it hurt. I realized though, that I could not even feel anything, it was just so noisy and it scared me.
He also showed me two weird exercises for me to do to keep the pelvis in its right position.
The days after the treatment were unbearable. The pain was more intense, but more evenly spread out over the lower back. To budge bones and muscles is painful, you sort of get a bruise in your body that has to heal, so I was not especially worried about the pain. I understood it was part of the healing process.
Five days later I was back for a follow-up and got cracked and kneaded once again. I was better, but not completly recovered. I would have to visit there many times, but I am going back to the States in a few weeks. It is not as easy to find a naprapath in the States, and Christian suggested I should go to a chiropractor and a massage therapist collaterally to reach the same effect.
